CranklessICE Limited was formed by it’s Principal founders, Jim Nelms and George Stonier to exploit ideas an concepts first imagined by Jim and then made real with George’s decades of experience in engineering and production design.
The two principals have successfully designed and exploited many concepts throughout the years and have often provided many innovative solutions for transport engineering.
They have assembled a team to make use of these revolutionary designs and work primarily within the transport industry to help manufacturers and suppliers provide the next step in evolution of the internal combustion engine.
Whilst many have dismissed developments in internal combustion engines as yesterday’s technology, electrical powertrain systems do not currently have the infrastructure to support wide adoption and petroleum and it’s derivatives still have the highest energy density, compared to hydrogen and electrical storage (batteries and super-capacitors).
Despite the daily publicity, sales of BEV (battery electric vehicles) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicles) light vehicles also were relatively flat between 2015 and 2016, according to IHS Markit analysis, despite the ever-present longer-term growth fundamentals. Global BEV production remains significantly below 1 million units and will represent just 0.7 percent of new vehicle supply globally in 2017, according to IHS Markit forecasts. This is of a total of 93.5 million light vehicles produced globally in 2017.
This shows that the demand for ever more efficient internal combustion engines will be strong throughout the next several decades.
